Gold Coins and Spree Coins side by side
| Question | Gold Coins (GC) | Spree Coins (SC) |
|---|---|---|
| What are they for? | Entertainment play | Sweepstakes play in eligible games |
| Can they be bought? | Gold Coin packages are available | Rules describe SC as free promotional entries, including those accompanying some GC packages |
| Can they be redeemed? | No | Only qualifying SC, after the required checks |
| Is the displayed balance money? | No | No; prize approval is conditional |
| What should you check? | Selected coin mode and play amount | Coin mode, playthrough status, qualifying balance and eligibility |
Worked examples: what a balance actually allows
| Example balance | What it means |
|---|---|
| 25,000 GC | No cash or gift card redemption value, regardless of the size of the balance. |
| 10 qualifying SC | Meets the published gift card minimum; below the cash minimum. Approval and verification still apply. |
| 99 qualifying SC | Below the published 100 SC cash threshold. |
| 100 qualifying SC | Meets the published cash threshold; not an approved or completed payment. |
| 100 newly credited SC | Do not assume these are qualifying coins: check the applicable playthrough and account requirements. |
Playthrough does not preserve the original award
If 10 SC are awarded and then played, the result can leave you with fewer than 10 SC, more than 10 SC, or none. A requirement to play through once is an entry condition; it is not a promise to return the award. Check your redeemable balance rather than adding together historical bonuses.

How the two coin types are obtained
Spree advertises free signup and daily coins. Gold Coin packages can also be purchased, and some packages include promotional SC. A purchase is not necessary to enter or win; the free coins guide explains daily claims, promotions and the alternative mail-in method.
What does one-time playthrough mean?
Under section 6.1 of the published rules, SC acquired through the listed methods generally must be played through in an applicable sweepstakes game at least once before counting toward the redemption minimum. Playthrough does not guarantee a win or preserve the balance: game outcomes can reduce it. The rules allow exceptions or additional requirements, so check the game and account terms.
Before choosing a game
Confirm which balance is selected before each game. Consult its information screen for rules and theoretical return, and understand that a theoretical return is an average over many plays, not a personal outcome. See the Spree games guide for how to assess a game.
